Fifield-Cahill Ridge Bike Ride


My first event as a volunteer trail leader on the SFPUC Peninsula Watershed trail took place on April 16, leading a small group of carefully selected participants, who I knew would be tolerant to my novice status.
The ride is out and back, at least until the SFPUC opens trails to the Montara Mt. (which is planned). After the initial climb from the Skyline Quarry area (600 ft in 1.3mi), the trail is a non-technical wide service road with smooth surface and rolling elevation profile. At the northern end, there is a nice swooping downhill and then a short steep climb to the Portola Gate, with rewarding views.
